Elias Lyman Magoon (1810–1886)

Magoon, Elias Lyman. An American pulpit orator and author; born in Lebanon, NH, Oct. 20, 1810; died in Philadelphia, Nov. 25, 1886. Among his published works are: ‘Eloquence of the Colonial Times’ (1847); ‘Proverbs for the People’ (1848); ‘Republican Christianity’ (1849); and ‘Westward Empire’ (1856).
