Mann, Thomas. A German novelist; born at Lübeck, June 6, 1875; died in 1955. Among his works are: ‘Little Herr Friedemann’ (1898); ‘Buddenbrooks’ (1901), the story of a family of Lübeck merchants; ‘Bilse and I’ (1906); ‘Death in Venice’ (1913); ‘Tonio Kröger’ (1914).
