Mead, Edwin Doak. An American historical writer and lecturer; born in Chesterfield, NH, Sept. 29, 1849; died in 1937. He is the author of ‘The Philosophy of Carlyle’ (1881), and ‘Martin Luther: a Study of the Reformation’ (1884); ‘The Roman Church and Public Schools’; ‘The Influence of Emerson.’
