François Auguste Marie Mignet (1796–1884)

Mignet, François Auguste Marie (mēn-yā’). A French historian; born at Aix, Provence, May 8, 1796; died in Paris, March 24, 1884. Among his works were: ‘Life of Franklin’ (1848); ‘History of the French Revolution’ (13th ed. 1880); ‘Charles V.’ (10th ed. 1882); ‘History of Marie Stuart’ (6th ed. 1884); etc. He wrote also a drama entitled ‘Antonio Perez and Philip II.’ (5th ed. 1881).
