John Flavel Mines (1835–1891)

Mines, John Flavel [“Felix Oldboy”]. An American journalist, descriptive writer, and writer of verse; born in Paris, 1835; died in 1891. He entered the army as chaplain in 1861; but received a commission, and was mustered out as lieutenant-colonel in 1865. He published: ‘Heroes of the Last Lustre’ (1858), verse; ‘Tour around New York, by Mr. Felix Oldboy’ (1888).
