Horatio Newton Moore (1814–1859)

Moore, Horatio Newton. An American dramatist and novelist; born in New Jersey in 1814; died in Philadelphia, Aug. 26, 1859. His first work of importance, ‘Orlando, or Woman’s Virtue,’ a tragedy, was published at nineteen; ‘The Regicide,’ a five-act drama, at twenty. His short novel ‘Mary Morris’ (1840) was very popular. The ‘Lives of Marion and Wayne’ was issued in 1854.
