Frederick Law Olmsted (1822–1903)
Olmsted, Frederick Law. An American architect and designer of public parks; born in Hartford, CT, April 26, 1822; died on Aug. 28, 1903. He designed Central Park in New York, and the park systems of Boston, Chicago, Buffalo, and other cities. His publications include: ‘Walks and Talks of an American Farmer in England’ (1852); ‘A Journey in the Seaboard Slave States’ (1856); ‘A Journey in Texas’ (1857); ‘A Journey in the Back Country’ (1861).
