Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso) (ov’id). The Roman poet; born at Sulmo, March 20, 43 B.C.; died at Tomi, 17 A.D. He wrote: ‘Metamorphoses’; ‘Fasti’ (The Calendar); ‘Epistles’; ‘Amours’; ‘Art of Love’; ‘Heroical Epistles’; and other works. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
