Étienne Pasquier (1529–1615)

Pasquier, Étienne (päs-kyā’). A celebrated French jurisconsult; born at Paris, 1529; died there, 1615. His greatest work is ‘Researches on France,’ in nine books, treating of the magistracies, States-general, Church affairs, famous trials, origin of French poetry, the French language, etc.; very important are ‘Pasquier’s Letters’ (1619).
