Antonio Giulio Barrili (1836–1908)

Barrili, Antonio Giulio (bär-rē’lē). An Italian soldier, journalist, and novelist; born in Savona, 1836; died in 1908. He was one of the most prolific writers of modern Italy. Among his numerous stories are: ‘Elmtree and Ivy’ (1868); ‘The Vale of Olives’ (1871); ‘As in a Dream’; ‘The Devil’s Portrait’ (1882); ‘The Eleventh Commandment’; ‘A Whimsical Wooing.’
