Bliss Perry (1860–1954)

Perry, Bliss. An American educator and writer; born at Williamstown, MA, Nov. 25, 1860; died in 1954. He was professor of oratory and æsthetic criticism at Princeton University; editor of the Atlantic Monthly; and was professor of English at Harvard. He published: ‘The Broughton House’ (1890); ‘Salem Kittredge, and Other Stories’ (1894); ‘The Plated City’ (1895); ‘The Powers at Play’; ‘The Amateur Spirit’; ‘Walt Whitman’ (1906); ‘Park Street Papers’ (1909); ‘The American Mind’ (1912).
