Pitre Chevalier (1812–1863)
Pitre Chevalier, name assumed by Pierre Michel François Chevalier. A French journalist and historical writer; born in 1812; died in 1863. He wrote several volumes of poems; also ‘Studies on Brittany’ (6 vols., 1839–42); ‘Ancient Brittany’ (1844); ‘Modern Brittany’ (1844); ‘History of the War of the Cossacks against Poland’ (1859).
