John Bascom (1827–1911)

Bascom, John. An American educator and philosophical writer; born at Geneva, NY, 1827; died in 1911. He was president of the University of Wisconsin (1874–87). He wrote a number of philosophical works, among them: ‘Philosophy of English Literature’ (1874), lectures before the Lowell Institute; ‘Comparative Psychology’ (1878); ‘Sociology.’
