Nicolas Savary (1788–1788)

Savary, Nicolas (sä-vär-ē’). A French traveler and Orientalist; born at Vitré, Brittany, France, in 1750; died on Feb. 4, 1788. He published: ‘Letters on Egypt’ (3 vols., 1781–85); the Koran in French, with a ‘Life of Mohammed’ (2 vols., 1783).
