Eliza Ruhamah Scidmore (1856–1928)

Scidmore, Eliza Ruhamah. An American author and corresponding secretary of the National Geographical Society; born in Madison, WI, Oct. 14, 1856; died in 1928. Among her published works are ‘Jinrikisha Days in Japan’ (1890); ‘From East to West’ (1890); ‘Java, the Garden of the East’ (1897); ‘China, the Long-Lived Empire’ (1900); ‘Winter India’ (1903); ‘As The Hague Ordains’ (1907).
