Sir Charles Sedley (1639–1701)

Sedley, Charles, Sir. An English dramatist; born at Aylesford in Kent, 1639; died on Aug. 20, 1701. He is author of the favorite song ‘Phyllis.’ He wrote four comedies, among them ‘The Mulberry Garden’ (1668) and two tragedies.
