François Tercy (c. 1774–1841)

Tercy, François (tãr-sē’). A French poet; born at Lons-le-Saulnier in Jura, about 1774; died at Le Mans, Oct. 1, 1841. He wrote: ‘Epithalamium of Napoleon and Marie Louise’ (1810); ‘Birth of the King of Rome’ (1811); ‘Death of Louis XVI.,’ an idyl in the ancient style (1816); ‘Death and Apotheosis of Marie Antoinette’ (1817); ‘Death of Louis XVIII.’ (1818).
