Octave Thanet (Alice French) (1850–1934)

Thanet, Octave, pseudonym of Alice French. An American novelist; born at Andover, MA, March 19, 1850; died in 1934. She published: ‘Knitters in the Sun’; ‘Otto the Knight’; ‘Stories of a Western Town’; ‘An Adventure in Photography’; ‘Expiation’; ‘A Slave to Duty’; ‘Man of the Hour’; ‘The Lion’s Share’ (1907); ‘By Inheritance’ (1910); ‘A Step on the Stair’ (1913).
