Moritz Thausing (1838–1884)

Thausing, Moritz (tou’sing). An Austrian art critic; born at Leitmeritz in Bohemia, June 3, 1838; died there, Aug. 14, 1884. He became professor of the science of æsthetics in the University of Vienna, 1873. He wrote; ‘Dürer: History of his Life and his Art’ (1876); ‘J. J. Callot’s Sketch-Book’ (1881); ‘Art Letters from Vienna’ (1884).
