Tillotson, John. An English archbishop and ecclesiastical writer; born at Sowerby, Yorkshire, Oct. 1630; died in London, Nov. 22, 1694. He ranks among the foremost of English preachers; published in his lifetime several volumes of sermons, and left many more in manuscript.
