Sophie Ulliac-Trémandeure (1794–1862)

Ulliac-Trémandeure, Sophie (ü-yäk’trā-mo-dėr’). A French story-writer; born at Lorient, 1794; died at Paris, 1862. Among her stories, all intended for youthful readers, are: ‘The Fowler’ (1825); ‘Old Daniel’s Sundays’ (1833); ‘The Little Hunchback’ (1833); ‘Mother Goose’s Stories’ (1842): some of her stories were crowned by the Academy. She wrote also ‘An Old Woman’s Reminiscences’ (2 vols. 1861).
