Esteban Manuel de Villegas (1589–1669)

Villegas, Esteban Manuel de (vēl-yā’gäs). A celebrated Spanish lyric poet; born in Old Castile in 1589; died in 1669. He published a collection of poems entitled ‘Amatorias’ (1620); he also translated Horace and Anacreon into Spanish verse, and made a prose translation of Boethius.
