Vincent Voiture (1597–1648)

Voiture, Vincent (vwä-tür’). A French poet; born in Amiens, 1597; died on May 26, 1648. His letters are the chief basis of his literary reputation. He enjoyed the friendship of Cardinal Mazarin, and through his patronage attained the zenith of his reputation, and enjoyed large pensions.
