Vittorio Bersezio (1830–1900)
Bersezio, Vittorio (ber-sets’yō). An Italian novelist and playwright; born at Peveragno, Piedmont, in 1830; died in 1900. Both as a writer of tales and of comedies he is conspicuous for vivid and faithful delineation of Piedmontese life; especially in his dialect comedies, among which ‘The Misfortunes of Monssù Travett’ is considered to be his masterpiece. He also wrote excellent historical works: ‘The Reign of Victor Emanuel II.’; ‘Rome, the Capital of Italy.’
