John Blake White (1781–1859)

White, John Blake. An American artist, lawyer, and dramatist; born, Sept. 2, 1781, near Eutaw Springs, SC; died in Charleston, SC, Aug. 24, 1859. His dramatic writings include: ‘Foscan; or, The Venetian Exile’ (1805); ‘Mysteries of the Castle’ (1806); ‘Modern Honor’ (1812); ‘Triumph of Liberty’ (1819); ‘Intemperance’ (1839).
