Augusta Jane Wilson (1835–1909)

Wilson, Mrs. Augusta Jane (Evans). An American novelist; born at Columbus, GA, May 8, 1835; died in 1909. She lived some years in Texas; afterwards at Mobile, AL. Her works at one time had great popularity. They include: ‘Inez’ (1856); ‘Beulah’ (1859); ‘Macaria’ (1864); ‘St. Elmo’ (1866); ‘Vashti’ (1869); ‘Infelice’; ‘At the Mercy of Tiberius’; ‘Devota.’
