Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503–1542)

Wyat, Sir Thomas. An English poet and diplomatist; born at Arlington Castle, Kent, 1503; died at Sherborne, Oct. 11, 1542. He wrote many poems, chiefly love sonnets, and satires in the Italian manner. These were published in 1557, in Tottel’s Miscellany, along with the poems of his younger contemporary Surrey and others of the ‘Courtly Makers.’ (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
