Josef von Xylander (1794–1854)

Xylander, Josef Carl August (ksi-län’der). A German officer and military writer; born at Munich, 1794; died in 1854. He wrote: ‘A Manual of Tactics’; ‘Strategy and its Application’ (1818); and many other works, among them a ‘History of the War in Sweden in 1808–9’ (1825).
