Melchior Yvan (1803–1873)

Yvan, Melchior (ē-vo‘). A French physician and publicist; born at Digne (Basses-Alpes), 1803; died at Nice, 1873. He wrote: ‘China and the Malay Peninsula’ (1850); ‘Travels and Stories’ (1852); ‘The Insurrection in China’ (1853); ‘From France to China’ (1855).
