Abraham Coles (1813–1891)

Coles, Abraham. An American prose-writer and poet; born in Scotch Plains, NJ, Dec. 26, 1813; died in Monterey, CA, May 3, 1891. He published thirteen original translations of the celebrated hymn ‘Dies Iræ’ (1859); ‘Old Gems in New Settings’ (1866); ‘The Microcosm’; and ‘The Light of the World’ (1884).
