Alfred Meissner (1822–1885)

Meissner, Alfred (mīs’nėr). A German poet and novelist; born at Teplitz, Oct. 15, 1822; died at Bregenz, May 29, 1885. His principal works are: the revolutionary ‘Poems’ (1845); the epic ‘Ziska’ (1846); the romances ‘Sansara’ (3d ed. 1861), ‘Dark Yellow’ (1862–64); ‘Norbert Norson’ (1883).
