Christoph Daniel Ebeling (1741–1817)
Ebeling, Christoph Daniel (ā’bel-ing). A German scholar and historian; born in Hildesheim, about 1741; died in Hamburg, June 30, 1817. He was for many years professor of history and Greek at Hamburg. His chief work is a ‘Geography and History of North America’ (5 vols., 1793–99), for which he received a vote of thanks from Congress.
