David Ames Wells (1828–1898)

Wells, David Ames. An American political economist; born at Springfield, MA, June 17, 1828; died at Norwich, CT, Nov. 5, 1898. He edited the ‘Annual of Scientific Discovery’ (16 vols., 1850–65). Some of his works are ‘Familiar Science’ (1856); ‘Elements of Natural Philosophy’ (1857); and a widely circulated political pamphlet, ‘Our Burden and Our Strength’ (1864); ‘The Creed of the Free-Trader’ (1875); ‘Production and Distribution of Wealth’ (1875).
