Lucas, Edward Verrall. An English essayist; born at Brighton, England, in 1868; died in 1938. ‘The Open Road’ (1899); ‘Listeners’ Lure’ (1906); ‘Over Bemerton’s’ (1908); ‘One Day for Another’ (1909); ‘Old Lamps for New’ (1911). ‘The Vermilion Box’ (1916). He edited the ‘Works of Charles and Mary Lamb’ (1903–05).
