Meriwether, Mrs. Elizabeth (Avery). An American novelist; born in Tennessee, in 1824; died in 1917. She wrote: ‘The Master of Red Leaf’ (1879); ‘Ku-Klux-Klan’ (1880), a drama; ‘My First and Last Love’; ‘The Sowing of Swords’ (1910).
