Henrik Arnold Wergeland (1808–1845)

Wergeland, Henrik Arnold (vãr’gė-länd). A Norwegian poet; born at Christiansand, June 17, 1808; died on Aug. 12, 1845. His works are: ‘The Creation, Man, and the Messiah,’ a lyric poem (1830); ‘The Jew’; ‘Jan van Huysum’s Flower-Piece’; ‘The English Pilot’ (1845); and many tragedies, vaudevilles, farces, etc.
