Henry Watterson (1840–1921)

Watterson, Henry. An American journalist; born in Washington, DC, Feb. 16, 1840; died in 1921. His first work as journalist was with the Democratic Review, and The States, in Washington, DC. He edited the Republican Banner, Nashville, TN, before and after the War, in the interim serving with distinction in the Confederate army. He edited, in Louisville, KY, the Louisville Journal (1867–68); and edited the Louisville Courier-Journal after 1868. He published, ‘Oddities of Southern Life and Character,’ and ‘History of the Spanish-American War.’
