Jasper Mayne (1604–1672)

Mayne, Jasper. An English divine, poet, and dramatist; born in Devonshire, 1604; died in 1672. He was archdeacon of Chichester and chaplain in ordinary to Charles II. Besides sermons and poems, he wrote a comedy ‘The City Match’ (1639); ‘The Amorous Warre’ (1648), a tragicomedy; etc.
