Katherine Prescott Wormeley (1830–1908)
Wormeley, Katharine Prescott. An American author, and prominent translator from the French; born in Suffolk, England, July 14, 1830; died at Jackson, NH, Aug. 5, 1908. She was most widely known as a translator of Balzac’s novels; and wrote: ‘The Cruel Side of War’ (1881); ‘Life of Balzac’; ‘The U.S. Sanitary Commission’ (1863).
