Luigi Lanzi (1732–1810)

Lanzi, Luigi (länts’ē). An Italian antiquarian; born at Monte dell’ Ormo, 1732; died at Florence, March 31, 1810. Chief among his works are an ‘Essay on the Etruscan Language’ (3 vols., 1789) and ‘Pictorial History of Italy’ (1789). He wrote also ‘Notices on the Sculpture of the Ancients’ (1789).
