Mihai Eminescu (1850–1889)

Eminescu, Mihai (ā-min-es’kö). The great lyric poet of Romania (1850–89); born at Bucharest. He died in a madhouse. His ‘Poems’ are mostly elegio-satiric, and touch questions political, social, religious, and moral. Some of them have been rendered into German by Carmen Sylva.
