Peder Mariager (1827–1894)

Mariager, Peder. (mä-rē-ä’ger). A Danish novelist; born in 1827; died in 1894. Besides translating a number of works from the French and German, he wrote: ‘From Hellas’ (1881), stories that attempt to reproduce Greek culture as Ebers did Egyptian; ‘The Last Lamia’ (1884); ‘The Potentate of Rhodes’ (1885); ‘Sybaris,’ a drama; ‘A Marriage in the Catacombs’ (1893); etc.
