Philippe Néricault Destouches (1680–1754)

Destouches, Philippe Néricault (dā-tösh’). A French dramatist (1680–1754); born at Tours. ‘The Boaster’ (1732), ‘The Spendthrift’ (1736), and ‘The Married Philosopher’ (1727), largely based on the author’s own life, are among the best of his seventeen comedies.
