Sir Spencer Walpole (1839–1907)

Walpole, Spencer, An English historian; born, Feb. 6, 1839; died in 1907. He held several government positions, and also devoted himself to history. Among his books are: his greatest work, ‘A History of England from the Conclusion of the Great War in 1815’ (1878–86); ‘The Electorate and the Legislature’ (1881); ‘Life of Lord John Russell’ (1889); and ‘The Land of Home Rule’ (1893).
