William of Malmesbury (c. 1090–1143)

Malmesbury, William of. A noted English historian; born in Somersetshire, about 1090; died at Malmesbury, about 1143. He was a monk, and librarian of the monastery of Malmesbury. His great works are ‘History of the Kings of England,’ and its continuation ‘Modern History,’ both in Latin.
