Frank J. Wilstach, comp. A Dictionary of Similes. 1916.

Hartley Coleridge

Bright as joy.

Fresh as sea-born Cythera.

Lonely as a trance.

Passed away as fairies vanish at the break of day.

Rich and ripe as Autumn’s store.

Sweet as pity.

Passed away
As Fairies vanish at the break of day.

Various as the voices of the wind.

Weak as fear of shame.

Youth, like spring-time, light and nimble,
Evanescent in its glee.
