Summer Rain

Apollon Maikov (1821–1897)

“GOLDEN rain! Golden rain! out of the sky!”

Children sing out and run after the rain.

“Quiet, my children, we’ll reap it again,

Only we’ll gather the gold in the grain—

In the full granaries fragrant with rye.”
