Report
Hello Class, For this week's discussion, I personally don't see any advantage in keeping accountants completely removed from the design and/or production of reports. I do understand that information systems specialists are far more capable when it comes to coding and building/modifying systems that actually make/generate reports, they may not be versed or have complete knowledge of what they need to have included in the program to obtain the relevant information. As last week's additional resources stated, "It is generally believed that insiders in every area of life make better developmental instrument," (Hybrid Accountant, 2023). Disadvantages include specialists writing software that may not pull all of the data necessary to make a full and compliant report. When it comes to producing/designing managerial reports, it is important to remember that "only through understanding market dynamics and user demands" can a business successfully grow (Dai, 2022). In the case of generating managerial reports, financial performance is of the most importance where "it is urgent to improve enterprise financial information management" with a system that is efficient (Dai, 2022). When it comes to accountants being involved in producing other reports, I believe it is best determined on a case-by-case basis, serving the company's needs. I understand the benefits of having further involvement as accountants are to be objective and detail oriented, as well as having a better understanding of documentation techniques, but not every company will have the need for additional involvement. Obviously, for a larger company, accountants are more involved, creating various flowcharts, but for a smaller company (like the one I work for now with a total of 6 team members including the boss), it is not as beneficial to have an accountant create flowcharts for such a small staff as well as all of the "complicated" procedures and responsibilities being handled exclusively by the boss himself.
