Kritik Exercise #1 Part A: The anatomical position is a standardized body position and posture used as a reference point for people who study anatomy and medicine. In this position: - The body is standing upright with the feet parallel to each other and flat on the ground, body weight distributed equally in both feet. - Arms are straight down at the sides of the body, with palms facing up. This is called supination of the forearms. - Fingers and thumbs extended straight down, palms facing anteriorly. - The head is level and facing forward, eyes also looking forward. - The spine is in a natural position with its natural curves preserved, body not leaning towards either side. Having a standard reference position is helpful for many reasons, one reason being consistency. The position provides a constant reference point for describing the location and orientation of the body. It is essential in medical and scientific communication to ensure everyone Is on the same page when discussing the human body. Another reason can be research and diagnosis. For this field, it is especially important to know the exact position of organs, bones, and other structures so they can make accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for patients. Anatomical position provides a standardized framework for describing the location of abnormalities, making it easier to communicate findings and collaborate on patient care fig 1 - Anatomical Position
Part B: 1. Starting in anatomical position, a. The body is upright, feet parallel and flat on the ground. b. Arms extended straight down by the sides of the body with palms facing forward. c. Head is level and facing forward, eyes looking straight ahead. 2. Transition a. Take a step forward with one foot on the frontal axis while keeping the other foot in place. b. Bend the front knee approximately 90 degrees, lowering the body to the ground. c. The back leg remains straight with its heel lifted o ff the ground. d. The Pelvis tilts slightly forward, creating a flexion movement at the hip joint. e. The thoracis and lumbar regions of the spine flex forward slightly to maintain the balance. f. Arms move down towards the floor on either side of the foot stepped forwards. g. The head and neck maintain a neutral position in line with the rest of the spine. Part C: Ligaments are tough, fibrous bands of connective tissue that connect bone to bone, in and around joints. Tendons on the other hand connect muscle to bone. Ligaments provide stability and support in the joints that prevent excessive movement and hold the bones together. Tendons play a crucial role in movement by transmitting the force generated by muscles to bones allowing for various body parts to move. figure 2 . Ligament
