At the start of this course, it is important to familiarize yourself with your
classmates, the learning outcomes of our course, and our course
environment. This will help you build a plan and support system to
successfully complete your assignments. For this discussion, review the
course syllabus and our course outcomes and then create a post that
addresses the following topics:
1.
Provide a short introduction of yourself to your peers and instructor.
What personal or professional experiences have you encountered that
are related to the general topics of this course?
Hi, my name is Melissa Sanchez. I reside in the state of Washington in a small town known as
Tri-Cities and I live with my husband in our small home. I currently have my associate degree in
Anthropology, and I am pursuing to obtain my bachelor’s in environmental science. In my free
time, I enjoy going on hikes in the beautiful PNW (Pacific Northwest), my husband and I are
bookworms so we both like to find a book to read and after we finish it we both sit down and
speak about the book we had read and the things we like or don’t like about it and along with that
I do find it quite a tranquillity making pottery.
Family is also very important to me so we all try
to get together every weekend and have a family night. A personal experience that I have
encountered with the related topic for this course was while studying in college for my
anthropology degree I took courses related to geology to understand the earth's history,
composition, and processes, as well as the way it looks.
2.
After reviewing the course outcomes, what do these outcomes mean to
you? How are these outcomes relevant to your own
personal/professional experiences and interests?
Well when I reviewed the course outcomes within my personal life the only experience I
encountered is while I was studying to obtain my AA in anthropology I took courses regarding
geology but, I know that the little information that was presented and I learned was only the
basics of geology which I know is helpful but I always felt as if there was more to it than what
was presented to me. Now when it comes to my professional l haven't gotten the opportunity to
work within the field that I am interested in I only have an administrative assistant background
which has taught me differently than what I am interested in so I hope to expand that knowledge.
3.
After reviewing the course syllabus and the assignment guidelines for
your Module One activities, what resources will you need in order to be
successful in this course? How can your instructor and fellow
classmates help you reach the outcomes of the course?
I know that the resources that I will need the most are the textbook that we will be using this
term to learn about the topic above. I also know that the extra sources that our instructor provides
us with will be a key component of the criteria that we will be covering as well. Therefore, in
order to succeed in this course, I will communicate with my professor and fellow classmates,
